A steel trader turned politician, Dr. Jagathrakshagan is now an industrialist and a leading light in the area of education from primary education to professional colleges and university. His philosophy in life “equality to all” led him to politics and has now shaped his social bent where he is now a tireless crusader for the upliftment of the downtrodden and socially backward people, particularly in the rural areas. Generous and benevolent by hand, magnanimous by heart, this warm host has led and is leading a life of humility, marked by discipline and dignity.
Dr. Jagathrakshagan is one among a select few Indians who lead the leaders. He always believes in leading from the front and practices what he preaches. He has donned the different hats from being a politician with fire in the belly to an educationist with great élan. He is also a leading industrialist but always believes in being a humanist and philanthropist, something not many have been successful in actual practice. He is also an author with around 42 books to his credit and noted publisher and has brought out the Vaishnavite literature in a way to reach the common man.
As a Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly for 5 years he worked for the cause of the socially backward and poor, not only in the constituency he represented, but all over Tamil Nadu. He has been a Member of Parliament for 10 years and has done yeomen service to the poor and downtrodden all over Tamil Nadu. He has chaired various committees notable among them being Tourism and Culture and Public Finance. He has successfully represented the interests of Tamil Nadu in the Parliament but always has had national interest in front. Such is the love of people for him that he is still referred to as MP though he is not a Member of the Parliament anymore.
A humanitarian and philanthropist with a broad social conscience, he has established health care facilities and educational institutions par excellence in Tamil Nadu. As a leader of leaders and a strong visionary, he has provided tremendous support for literary, religious and spiritual causes.
A true nationalist and a patriot to the core, he has always worked for National Integration even though he learnt the basics of politics from the Dravidian Movement.
