Hindi was accepted as the official language of the Union of India on 14.9.1949 in Article 343 of the Indian Constitution effective from 26.1.1950.However,for a period of 15 years from the commencement of the Constitution,English was to continue in use for all official purposes,But before the expiry of that lease,an Act was passed by the Parliament in 1963,duly confirmed and elucidated in 1967,providing that English would also continue in addition to Hindi.The Central Government framed rules in 1976 which would extend to whole of India,except Tamilnadu….
