The truth of the matter is that certain aspects of national life, which were probably necessary at one time and which led to the preaching of indiscipline openly, have resulted in the creation of that very spirit of indiscipline which is very difficult to control at present. Can it be said that the student today is surrounded with conditions and influences which will go towards promoting in him that spirit of discipline? In the political social or economic fields, is there discipline in the general public? If fasts and feats can be indulged in for forcing issues, political or social, by persons who are supposed to be leaders and it occasionally they even get a publicity for beyond their due – which, publicity is generally surrounded by a halo of glory and hero worship if not even of divinity if such a state of things is prevalent in the country, is it to be suggested that its influence on the student mind will be negligible? If today there are forces let loose which indulge in the most vapid outpourings and if such sentiments and utterances are to be extolled, if today in the economic field chaotic conditions prevail and black-marketing activities and expropriatory measures gain support can it be legitimately claimed that all these factors have not their an unfortunate deleterious effects upon the conduct of students?
