Railway transportation started from 1.7.1856 in chennai and started from Vysarpadi to Arcot -63 miles and currently in India we have 6853 Railway stations and travelling 1,08,706 kms,with 7000 passengers travelling on daily basis with 14 lakh employees and 12 lakh pensioners and for the last 8 years railway rates have not been hiked-Daily Thanti Editorial-19.8.2011
