In 1905 Grand Shakespeare week was celebrated by Suguna Vilas Sabha,it was a miniature Stratford festival with the tamil version of The merchant of venice,english version of Othello,telugu version of Alls well that ends well was staged.Pammal Sambanda Mudaliar played Iago and Sir CP Ramasamy Iyer played Portia,these annual features was till 1935….
