Penning a moving requiem, eminent Tamil Scholar and former Vice – Chancellor of Tamil University, Dr. Avvai Natarajan, said the news of Ooran Adigal passing away was highly disturbing to lovers of ‘ Sanmarga ‘ Philosophy.
Having lectured and spoken together at innumerable functions on Vallalar’s philosophy with the saintly soul, Dr. Avvai recalled how Ooran Adigal had helped to set up ‘ Ramalingar Pani Mandrams ‘ even in far – away nations like South Africa and France, besides in Malaysia and Singapore among others.
” In thought, speech, writing and action, the wise saint was a rare jewel of austerity in the world of ‘ Sanmarga ‘ , Dr. Avvai Natarajan said, adding he still shuddered to think of the day when Ooran Adigal, on that occasion in Tiruchy, chose to renounce the world and don the white robes.
Moved by the deep and insightful works penned by Ooran Adigal on the life of Vallalar and a research work on ‘ Thiruvarutpa
(Ramalinga Adigal ‘ s collection of highly mystic and devotional poems ) ‘, former Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi had warmy appreciated his literary prowess while releasing the books several years back, recalled Dr. Avvai Natarajan.
